Stop The Bans
The planned attack on female reproductive rights is now in full swing. With the nomination and appointment of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, states have taken the cue and have begun to pass laws banning abortion.

The Guttmacher Institute is a research and policy organization committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights in the United States and globally.  They put together a summary of laws on abortion by state.  This article was published prior to the recent passing of bans in multiple states in the past several weeks, but shows the level of increased hostility against reproductive rights in the U.S.

On Twitter, Busy Philipps asked women to share their stories using the #YouKnowMe hashtag. We shouldn’t have to, but thousands of women bravely shared their personal stories.

We are rightly furious. Rebecca Traister wrote a fantastic article here on the dismissal of warnings that there was an impending attack on Roe v Wade.

What at you can do:
The ACLU, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and other groups are calling for a day of action tomorrow (Tues 5/21).  There are several events you can attend tomorrow and this weekend.  See the “Upcoming Events” section below.

Additionally, Planned Parenthood is hosting two webinars this week to train folks on how to take action (at 4:30 PM on Tuesday and on Thursday).

Other actions you can take: Act Locally:
In 2018, Governor Jerry Brown vetoed a bill to make medication-assisted abortion services accessible at UC and CSU campus student health centers.  The bill is now going back to the floor.  Call your state senator and urge their support for Senate Bill 24.  You can find out who your state senator is here.  More information on the bill is available here.
