Flip the 49th - Find out how at our February 11 Member meeting!

As you may be aware, Flip the 49th! recently had an Emergency District 49 Strategy Call on Tuesday, January 23.  For those of you who were not able to participate, here is a brief recap of that call.
  • Unity against the Trump agenda (and against sending ANY Trump Republican  to Congress) emerged as the most important theme. In our straw poll of participants, over 80% of participants voted that flipping the 49th is more important than loyalty to any specific Democratic candidate.
  • There was resounding support for the idea of organizing a Candidate Viability Forum in early March to discuss which candidate(s) on the Democratic side have the most viable path to victory. A committee was formed to discuss the date and the plan for the forum. This forum will focus on electability and strategy, which could include messaging, voter targeting, ground game, paid advertising, polling data, fundraising and resources. If time allows, the forum will also dive into the candidates' views on key issues.  This is an all hands on deck effort(!), so please sign-up here to help organize the forum.
  • We discussed the need for objective and unbiased analysis to empower all of us to make the best decisions about which candidate(s) to support, and especially to encourage the least viable Dem candidates to put the good of community and country above personal ego and ambition, and drop-out of the race if they are not in the lead.  We will be conducting rigorous opinion research to assess electability and viability in the district as soon as possible once we know which Republicans are in the race.
  • With Issa out and new Republicans running who will run as moderates, our work to flip the district has gotten harder.  Whether we win in November or not depends on talking to our neighbors week in and week out about the election and the issues. It is critical that each and every one of us are phonebanking and knocking on doors. If you care about winning this election you can sign-up here for upcoming opportunities:
  • Phonebanking District 49, Wednesday, 1/31, 6:00-8:00
  • Canvassing Vista/Oceanside, Saturday, 2/3, 09:30-1:30
Visit: Flip the 49th's Event Page for more opportunities to help and get involved.

Although Ellen did not win in court against the DJ, she is still looking at other options.  If you can still donate, that will be helpful.  Barbara Schiffler created this GoFundMe campaign to help Ellen with legal fees to maintain a restraining order against the disruptive DJ across the street at our Tuesday rallies. Any unused funds will go into the rally coffers.
