Upcoming Events
Tuesday, September 12, 10:00 a.m.: Weekly Rally at Issa's Vista Office - Our Theme: " We Represent"
1800 Thibodo Rd., #310, Vista, CA

Since Darrell Issa does not represent his constituents on key issues - but he sure supports Trump.  Check it out here.

Darrell Issa needs to do his job and represent his constituents but he chooses to remain silent on issue after issue, Trump fiasco after Trump fiasco.  We all have friends who cannot attend Tuesday rallies. Issa tells everyone that the rallies are no big deal, since it's only a couple hundred of the same people in front of his office.  This Tuesday, please have in mind persons or a group you personally want to represent.  Put their names and zip codes on paperdolls that will be delivered to Issa's office to show him "We Represent" his constituents.

Please RSVP here.

Legislative Update

Highlights of votes coming up in the House this week:

  • Most important bill being considered is HR 3354 - Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act 2018. It is mostly focused on funding the Department of the Interior including NPS, USGS, and the EPA. It also includes funding proposals for the NEA. The bill incorporates $1.6 billion towards a border wall. It does decrease amount of money that goes to the EPA and NOAA. On the upside, it does provide money for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting against 45’s wishes.

  • On Tuesday, the House will be considering a series of bills related to homeland security.

  • DACA update: No legislation imminent this week. Though 45 changes his mind frequently, latest signs are that he is talking with Dems about DACA. Members of both parties have called for DACA to be codified through Congress. Issa put out a statement that backs 45 (no surprise) and says he wants to work on a bipartisan solution moving forward. Will your actions match your words Congressman?

Action Items
LEGISLATIVE ACTION: Call Issa and ask him not to support funding for a border wall that is expensive and doomed to fail. Also, call Issa to urge him to support a clean DACA bill.

Issa's Phone numbers:
Washington DC Office - 202-225-3906
Vista CA - 760-599-5000
Other Updates
Obamacare enrollment: As the November 1, 2017, ACA enrollment date approaches, people are going to need help choosing their plans and signing up. The Trump administration has drastically cut funding for ACA outreach and assistance—so let’s do what we can to help. Let’s share as widely as possible, The Connector.   This online tool lets people find local, in-person assistance to help them sign up for health insurance.
