Please ignore the counter protesters across the street and focus solely on Darrell Issa. It's difficult. They can be loud and obnoxious. But we have been loud and obnoxious, too. Let's focus our loud and obnoxious energy ONLY on what Darrell Issa is doing. Remember we are all Americans and all have the right of free speech.

Legislative Update

Highlights of votes coming up in the House this week:

  • Massive spending bill that includes relief to Harvey and has a clause that cuts $876 million from the FEMA budget—roughly half the cost of 45’s border wall.
  • HR 1843: This bill changes the way the IRS seizes property related to the Bank Secrecy Act BSA or money laundering. If this bill passes, the IRS would only be able to seize property it suspects is trying to avoid BSA reporting requirements IF the property was derived from an illegal source or funds were rearranged to evade the BSA. Hmmm..this is fishy..aren’t some of 45’s under investigation for possible money laundering?

  • HR 2864: This bill would make it easier for small companies to receive investment through crowdfunding—allowing publicly traded companies to invest.

Action Items
Key Actions for this week:

Call Issa and tell him that it is not right to cut funds from FEMA after a disaster and that as his constituent, you are opposed to a border wall.
