Many of you have seen the article in the Union Tribune. Thank you to those who have made comments and sent letters to the editor. Are you curious who Flip the 49th is? Flip the 49th is the boots-on-the-ground effort that is going to help us get rid of Issa through canvassing, phone banking, etc. Flip the 49th does raise money from across the nation to fund this effort. None of that money is dark money and none of the money funds the Tuesday rallies. Indivisible 49 gives each of you the opportunity to support Flip the 49th , since the organization needs people to talk to neighbors, call voters in the district, provide data entry, video editing and more. If you are ready to take your activism to a new level or get more involved please let us know what you are interested in and we’ll get in touch with you.  Send an email to indivisible49adm@gmail.com.

Legislative Update

Legislative Section

Here’s what the House is voting on this week:

Monday - A few bills about economic regulation and government modernization, and a bill (HR 3739) about allowances for former Presidents. The House is also voting on a resolution expressing its position on political events in Yemen.

Tuesday - The House goes on a naming-post-offices-spree as it does every so often. Also, they vote on a bill (HR 2874) to “improve the financial stability of the National Flood Insurance Program” and figure out ways to more accurately predict places at risk of severe flooding.

Wednesday through Friday

HR 1 - Tax Cuts and Jobs Act - It appears that the House will be voting on their version of the tax bill this week. This bill could be devastating for the middle class in District 49 since our property tax, state and local income tax, among other things, are some of the highest in the country. To see a full list of implications, press here.
